Thailand

The number one family friendly destination. We lived there for 3 years and had the chance to explore it all. For a first time, I’d recommend 4 nights in Bangkok, plan tuktuk rides, floating markets, biking in Chinatown and a day out of town in Bangkok’s green lung. Second stop, Chiang Mai, to get a feel for the rural life in Thailand. Don’t miss waking up with the elephants at the Cha Lai Orchid, and then pack your bags one more time for a restful time on a picturesque island between Phuket and Krabi, Koh Yao Noi and its top family friendly stay, the Paradise Koh Yao.

Mexico

Yucatan will leave your tweens and teens speechless. Zipline in the jungle, jumping competition in natural pools, swimming with turtles or dolphins. The trip they will never forget! Favorite stays: Diamante K, l,Casa Bakal and Casona Los Cedros.

Cambodia

Did you know that Siem Reap has in impressive concentration of design family friendly cheap boutique hotels?! It was a big shocker for me too, and a lovely surprise. My favorite the: FCC Angkor by Avani. Besides exploring famous Angkor Wat, we loved playing Tomb Raider in historical ruins, biking amongst ricefields and traditional villages, the floating villages of lake Tonle Sap and the Cambodian circus show.

Albania

The unknown country of the Balkans. As very often, my main motivation to go would be to stay in these 3 incredible looking agritourismo : Neomalsore Agristorism Komani Lake, Blerina’s agriturismo concept, Agroturizem Gjepali.

Sri Lanka

If you are dreaming of a safari with the kids, but can’t quite affoard heading to Africa, than Sri Lanka is a wonderful options. Elephants and leopard are easy to spot in the countries numerous national parks. Don’t miss surfing on the East coast and trying incredible hip restaurants and hotels in the South West of the country. Two favorites are Kaju Green eco lodge and Shanti Shanti, beachfront restaurant.

Egypt

Cooking class for 3 euros, a meal for 5 euros, and a taxi ride for 8 euros. Egypt is cheap and incredibly divers. From desert, to beach, river cruise and cultural sites, the country will please all the types of travelers. Worried about safety? I traveled there in Sptember 2024, alone with my 3 year old daughter and felt safe at all times. My personal favorite include: the Houseboat 65 in Cairo, and Remal El Rayan glamp near Fayoum desert.

Morocco

With direct flights from most European capital and few cities on the East Coast of the USA, Morocco is actually an easy destination to get to, that will make you feel miles away from your routine. It is the perfect country for a family looking for a memorable easy adventure. Really ideal for first timers in the Arab world, Morocco has great authentic cities, seaside towns and countryside villages. My top pick for a first time would be: Riad P’tit Habibi, Riad Zouia 44, Riad Yasmine in Marrakesh, the Berber family lodge for a countryside experience, Hotel Kanz Erremal to explore the desert and Salut Maroc or Blue Waves Surf House for a seaside escape.

Mainland Greece

A part of Greece that is still quite preserved, unlike its islands. Countless of secret spots I dream to visit including Opora Country Living, Vassilikia Mountain Farm and Retreat or the Dexamenes Seaside Hotel.
