VALERIE SCHIMEL, FOUNDER MUNCHKIN FUN, IN MIAMI

We met up with Valerie in a bubble of driven entrepreneurs on Miami Beach. This co-working space feels very relaxed and sophisticated, just like our interlocutor. Although in the street few parents would recognize Valerie, with her delicate freckles and beautiful curly hair, she is one of Miami’s most important mamas.

Every week she reaches out to a community of 30,000 parents in Miami and its surrounds to inform them about the best family-friendly activities around. Her newsletters 'Munchkin Fun' are gold to every new parent living or visiting the area. Mother of three, she manages to stay really involved in her children’s lives despite her busy job.

HER MIAMI

A thought about Miami. It is an ideal kid-friendly city. The weather alone makes it easy for families to visit or live here. You can take the kids outside pretty much all year round. I also find that the pricing, in restaurants for example, is also reasonable for families.

Eating out with the kids.  Tequiztlan, a Mexican restaurant with a great staff. Their attitude with kids is wonderful.

Pubelli Sushi It is nice and fun to sit outside and there’s a good vibe in the place.

An activity on a rainy day. Young At Art Museum in Doral - It is a 40 minute drive but is totally worth it. It is an art museum just for kids, so it's great!

Color Me Mine in South Miami. In this art studio you pick a pottery item and then you paint it. It is a great way to spend two hours in air conditioning in summer.

A kid-friendly hotel. The St Regis in Bal Harbour - Uber kid-friendly thanks to a super accommodating staff. Kids get all kind of treats. It makes a great 'staycation', and is not overrun by children.
