Mini Hikes

"The views are breathtaking and being out there is so restorative. It is beautiful all year around, and it is easy for our son to run around."  | Lauren Podolls, Co-Founder of The Podolls about Lands End.

"Lands End is a great place to take a walk during the weekend." | Chloé Fleury, Illustrator and Prop Stylist.

" We love to take our kids and dog to hike on Goat Hill" | Vanessa Portois, Founder French Mothers Group San Francisco and Co-Founder Apropos SF.

Forget the boots and backpacks to tread upon the mini hikes scattered around San Francisco. These short and easy walks are great opportunities to immerse yourself in the nature, while you are still in the middle of the city… Five to twenty minutes long, and at times a slightly hilly, these paths are a perfect fit for kids.

If you are introducing them to hiking, opt for the easiest and quickest options around: Billy Goat Hill park (view map) adjacent to a playground or the desertic rocky Bernal Hill (view map) greeting you with a swing at the end of the uphill path. Both of them offer great views over the city. For an even flatter walk overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge, head to Lands End Park (view map). If you want a little more challenge and gigantic trees around you, try one of the trails of Mount Sutra (view map) in Inner Sunset district. No stroller for this hike though, too hilly.
