IN THE STEPS OF KIPLING IN RAJASTHAN

By Julie Wouters and Charlotte Burgoyne,Few places are as fascinating as India for the kids. Rajastahan, the "land of the kings" with its fantastic palaces and animals such as the Bengal tiger is a wonderful playground for kids. On our itinerary color named towns: Jaipur, the pink city Jodphur, the blue city, Udaipur, the white city have taken us to another time, another India. They best way to visit with kids is to hire local guides that will tell you about ancient tales, such as the one of the king of Udaipur who sieged the palace of Jodhpur to marry his daughter. Udaipur, used in a James Bond movie for its incredible backdrop consisting of a lake and old palaces was actually our absolute favorite during our trip. The distance between cities can be long so we hired a "traveller", a private van with a driver. It was very confortable and made the 3-4 car rides easy with the kids.[supsystic-gallery id=132]ITINERARY

  • BundiUdaipur Jodphur and New Delhi. After few days in the nature, we headed to these three towns to discover a bit more about the local culture. In order to make our visits as kid-friendly as possible, we planned one visit of a castle, a palace or a fort per day. This way the kids were able to stay focused and we'd go back to our hotel at night. You have to be careful with your choice of hotel, and I would highly recommend these:

Bundi:  Dev Niwas.  (Julie's full story on Bundi here (in French))Udaipur:  Jagat Niwas Palace (Julie's full story on Udaipur here (in French))Jodphur: Raas.(Julie's full story on Jodphur here (in French))New Delhi: Scarlette.
