SLEEPING IN A CAVE IN TURKEY
By Kirianna Jordan, founder of the blog Riley's TravelWe live in a megacity so it is super important for us to escape the bright lights and concrete living for some outdoor adventures. Im no rock climber or water rafter but I do love running about with Riley in the fresh air, or seeing something incredible by mother nature. For us in the pacific we are spoilt with beaches, and stunning lush land — so for something different and far from home so we choose to check out Turkey’s, Cappadocia and small town Göreme, to see the fairy chimneys. It is scorching hot; it isn't a surprise. We make our way weaving through narrow streets, up rocky hills to our cave hotel, the air is dry. With many reasons for tourists to visit, one of the many urges is to take the opportunity to stay in a cave. A large majority of the hotels are beautifully carved into the dramatic expanses of rock, most cascading down hard rock hills, similar to those of the locals.Attractions to see and do are endless, visiting the ancient underground city of Derinkuyu, visit mosques and churches in the rock faces, hot air ballooning and off road dirt biking through the valleys.. all of these activities are fun, just not with baby. Our magical mornings of a colourful sunrise, watching orchestra of balloons take flight. Spend our days walking through the markets and eating, lots of eating.
