While strolling up and down San Francisco’s hilly streets, you’ll probably notice the vast local Asian population. Run by a Chinese American mayor up to 2016, the city counts one out of three inhabitants with an Asian background. Make the most of this incredible mix of culture to learn more about Asian art and culture at the Asian Art Museum.

Extremely kid-friendly, it offers tours dedicated to kids aged 3 to 6 as well as interactive toolkit to pick up at the front desk, to engage your kids in games of hunt-and-seek while you tour the galleries. Check also the museum’s website to find out about weekly story time and craft activities.

What's Around?

Hayes Valley. Across South Vanessa Avenue, 10 minutes walking from the Asian Art Museum, you will find the trendy district of Hayes Valley. Full of boutiques from haute couture to local designers, art galleries and great spots for "le Goûter," the French afternoon snack (La Boulangerie, Miette) or to get a beer (Biergarten), an open air beer garden located across the street from a little park which makes it super convenient for families.
