SIMONE WILLIS, CO-FOUNDER EARTHLINGS, IN CAPE TOWN

Simone Willis grew up in Kommetjie, a rustic seaside little town near Cape Town. Surrounded by an incredible blend of beach, mountains, and sea since a young age, it's not surprising to find her at the head of a natural, organic kids' clothing brand. She founded Earthlings with a friend Lisa (who is also featured one of our Insiders to Cape Town) after studies in Fashion Design. " While studying I have always had a dream of creating my own baby line" she remembers. Simone has one son, Blake: "he is my inspiration and the muse behind Earthlings", she explains.

IN CAPE TOWN WITH SIMONE WILLIS

Eating out with the kids. To be honest, I don’t go much further than Kommetjie as this place has everything. We either have a picnic on Long Beach or have pizza dates down the road. But I will mention one place just outside Kommetjie called Imhoff Farm they have a lovely restaurant we often go to called Blue Water Cafe. The jungle gym/play area there is great and right next door there is also a petting farm. It has a lot to see and it is completely kid-friendly!

A pretty shop for kids. One if my favourite spots to shop at is Naartjie, but to be honest, I mostly shop at Woolworth for Blake.

Having fun in the sun with the kids. At the moment Blake’s favourite spot to be is on the beach learning to surf, he’s obsessed! Living in Kommetjie and having the beach right on our door step & being surrounded by nature, gives Blake the freedom to explore. Our daily ritual is long walks, cycling along the catwalk or hikes in Cape Point. There’s nothing better than being outdoors with your little one and just enjoying the fresh air.

Having fun on a rainy day with the kids. On a cold rainy day we go to movie theaters and snuggle up with popcorn.

Keeping up with local kid-friendly info. Blake’s preschool hands out Child Magazine - Cape Town’s Best Guide For Parents. It has all sorts of interesting write ups, parenting advise as well as amazing kid-friendly places recommendations.
