SERA HOLLAND, FOUNDER HANDMADE BY ME, IN CAPE TOWN

Sera Holland is a major South-African designer whose talent seduces interior design lovers. Her unique and trendy creations are constantly featured in prestigious magazines and newspappers such as the Sunday Times, House and Leisure, Living Space, Food&Home...  After a few years in Dublin, she decided to come back to Cape Town where she grew up, and created a bespoke textile design company: Handmade by me. She loves hanging out around her city with her nephew and her grandson, and shares here her favorite spots to take them to.

IN CAPE TOWN WITH SERA HOLLAND

Eating out with the kids. The Roundhouse is always easy with children as well as Cafe Paradiso as you will be able to eat lunch in peace while your children bake in the kitchen supervised by one of the staff members. Primmi Piatti or Spur for burgers are always good and easy options too.

Grabbing a snack with the kids. The best place for ice-cream (kids or no kids) would be Unframed ice-cream on Kloof st. For a healthy option, try Myog at Lifestyles centre on kloof.

A pretty shop for kids. Well, after Handmade By Me of course : ) there are a few places where I like to shop for kids. Kapas baby have great online options. As does Cawi. They did a very cute collaboration with one of my favourite Cape Town illustrators, Anja Stoekich. Petit pois, Earth child, Sticky Fudge, mono online shop are also very cute local options for kids clothing.

Having fun with the kids on a sunny day. Mostly the beach: Camps Bay is probably the easiest to get to, although it can be windy. My favourite is Llundudno. A stroll along the promenade is  also a great option for pushing prams. Otherwise there are a couple of parks for picnics I like such as Deer Park, the eco-park in Green Point and the Company's Gardens.

Having fun with the kids on a rainy day. There are so many cool places to take your children to in Cape Town. The Aquarium, Clay Cafe, or the Book Lounge, a bookshop that has a whole floor dedicated to kids and often does readings or activities over the holidays.

A cultural activity with the kids. The Baxter Theatre often offers shows for children, otherwise Cape Town Science Centre is pretty cool, World of Birds in hout bay, The Natural History Museum and The Planetarium. I am sure there are plenty more!
