THE NEW VOYAGER, CITY MAPS FOR COOL KIDS

Little travelers already had their own mini suitcase and headphones, but were clearly missing little guides to complete their voyager's set. Thanks to Emma Swinscoe, this time is past. The French mom of two founded  The New Voyager, a travel publishing house specialized in handcrafted city maps for young adventJournalist and foreign correspondant for the French Elle for 5 years in New York, she decided to start her own business after the birth of her daughters. 

The story behind The New Voyager.

I travel a lot with my daughters and I noticed that they always want to have a map in their hands just like me. Also while becoming a mom, I discovered a passion for pretty drawings in kids' books.  Gradually, family trip after family trip, the idea of illustrated city maps for kids blossomed in my mind.

What makes your maps unique?

My maps are the first guides designed exclusively for kids, not their parents. And as far as I know, it did not exist before! There is an icon next to each of the family-friendly destinations mentioned in a section at the bottom of the map which they can use to find its locations easily. My hope is that little ones make suggestions to their parents for what to visit next.

How do you pick the spots you mention ?

I only mention about 30 places which have all been tested by my girls and I. For instance, in the Paris guide I put the Luxembourg Garden where I often take my girls to play with little boats, or in the L.A guide I put the yoga class I was taking my girls to. I mix places that I have a history with and more famous ones.
