LISBON | MARTINHAL CHIADO
By Charlotte Burgoyne.Do you remember the last time you had a peaceful breakfast? By peaceful I mean drinking a fresh, hot coffee (vs a coffee you had to warm up 3 times because you kept being interrupted), eating a crispy toast (vs a mushy tartine that sat way longer than it should have before being eaten) and reading a newspaper?Let's face it, with kids, breakfast isn't the same anymore, and sometimes it would be amazing to experience a peaceful morning feast. We've got the solution: the Martinhal Chiado Lisbon. This hotel had the brilliant idea of setting up a surpervised play area for kids next to the breakfast buffet. Kids get to color, play together and hang out with the gigantic hotel mascot. The littlest can even be taken care of by the babysitter while you eat.Pretty good, right? Well, there's even better. After breakfast, how about heading to one of Lisbon's great museums, or the city's old town, the Alfama, a cute maze of stairs and winding streets? It's true these visits are not really kid-friendly, but how about leaving the kids at the Martinhal's free daycare?Open until 10pm, the hotel Kids' Club is a real blessing. They have a climbing wall, a gigantic screen for movies, tons of toys, including a ball pool for little ones and even pack'n'plays set up under a dreamy tent for babies. The staff is young and extremely qualified. If needed, you could even hire one of the team members for private babysitting in your room or outside of town.[supsystic-gallery id='70']All the rooms at the Martinhal Chiado Lisbon are designed like apartments and feature a kitchen with a fridge, a washing machine/dryer (with the laundry pods of course), a highchair, a pack'n'play (if needed), a potty and kids' toilet seat. In order to smooth your arrival, the hotel will also treat you to a bottle of juice and water, a milk jug and cookies!Besides being extremely family friendly, the Martinhal Chiado Lisbon will particularly appeal to parents who usually dread "family hotels". The Martinhal has been designed with a lot of style, and is filled with ethnic carpets, mid-century furniture and lots of wood. At the restaurant you will even find a vintage car kids will love to play in!Open until 7pm, the on-premise restaurant offers healthy homemade snacks and light meals, fresh juices and jams. The chef can make baby friendly meals on-demand, and you can even ask for the consistency you need!Last but not least, the location of the hotel is absolutely ideal. Right in the heart of Lisbon, you will be able to walk across the street to a craft coffee shop and wine bar, or down to the waterfront and several parks, or hop on one of the iconic city trams in minutes; a priceless experience with kids.Little Voyageurs loves:❤️ The free Kids' Club.❤️ The supervised play corner at breakfast.❤️ The kitchen and washing machine in the rooms.❤️ The babysitters available within two hours.❤️ The goodie bags for kids upon arrival.❤️ The homey decor.❤️ The central location with lots of shops and entertainment in walking distance.[supsystic-gallery id=58]
