HELOISE SYKES, FOUNDER LITTLE LOVE KIDS, IN CAPE TOWN

A creative at heart, Heloise Sykes has been living in the cosmopolitan hub of Cape Town for the past 10 years. After attending Elizabeth Galloway school of fashion in South Africa, she worked as a stylist for various big brands. The birth of her little princess, Lilia, inspired her to create her own brand specializing in babies and kids clothing, apparel and nursery decor: Little Love Kids.

IN CAPE TOWN WITH HELOISE SYKES

Eating out with the kids. A favourite spot of mine is called Lekker Neh at Weltevreden Estate in Stellenbosch - The huge play area and entertainment keeps Lilia busy for hours! I'm also a big fan of Spice Route eatery close to Paarl.

Spier wine farm, a 40 minute drive from Cape Town with kid-friendly wine tastings (chocolate and grape juice pairing for the kids) as well as bicycle rides, golf carts, swimming pools, gorgeous restaurants and endless open spaces. Visit the Eagle and Owl Encounters where your family will enjoy watching the bird show, seeing the dancing owls and petting the porcupines.

Babylonstoren in Simondium (also a 40 minute drive from Cape Town) is the ultimate for families who love being outdoors! Set within 3,5 hectares of cultivated fruit and vegetables, the big garden at Babylonstoren is at the heart of the farm. Every one of the 300 varieties of plants in the garden is edible or has medicinal value. They are also grown as organically as possible and in a biologically sustainable manner.

Grabbing a snack with the kidsFor those with a sweet tooth, I always look forward to our summer Sunday afternoons where we treat ourselves to Wakaberry or Myog frozen yogurt!

Shopping for the kids. In terms of the South African market, where we are spoilt for choice with such amazing kiddy apparel and decor, some of my favorite stores are Dandy-Lion, Simply Child and BunBun Kidswear, based in Woodstock. I also like Zara kids, Country Road, Cotton on Kids, Next... The list goes on.

An outdoor activity with the kids.  Picnicking at Kogel Bay Beach while dad paddles out for a surf! We can sit back and relax at this unspoilt beach for hours. Another favorite is Boulders Beach in Simonstown where we play with the penguins all day :) A fun play area is the huge outdoor jungle gym at Sea Point Beach in Cape Town.

An indoor activity with the kidsOn rainy days we usually snuggle up indoors with Lilia's favourite books ;) We also enjoy visiting the scratch patch or the aquarium at the V&A Waterfront for hours of fun.

A family-friendly hotel. The Tarragona Lodge in Hout Bay, where the rooms open up to a huge, indigenous garden with a big pool. Tarragona has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, making it ideal for kids (and parents!). They have puzzles, board games, kids books and outdoor games like badminton and swing-ball for the family to enjoy together.

How do you keep up to date with kid-friendly activity in town? Cape Town Kids (www.capetownkids.co.za) keeps me up to date with events, activities, accommodation and entertainment in and around Cape Town.
