CYPRUS | ALMYRA

By Nadine Mellor, i-escape Kids Collection editorPopular family resort Almyra is a convenient 20 minutes from Paphos international airport. The hotel flows across long, light, contemporary sea-facing buildings, with lawns, pools and a promenade to the front. We really loved our all-white Kyma Suite which had big sliding doors onto a semi-private patio, and lots of room to play both in and out.We were close to the playground, and a short saunter (or excited dash) to the swimming pools. The kids’ pool is perfectly designed: large, heated, and with a gradual slope giving both non-swimmers (my son) and human dolphins (my daughter) plenty of space to splash to their heart’s content. Beside is a small shaded baby and toddler pool for small fry, adjacent a ping pong table and grassy area for kicking a ball about, which were most favoured by my son. My daughter meanwhile lay on one of the comfy double loungers and devoured book after book, allowing me to follow suit. I’ve not had the opportunity to read in such quantity for a decade! Beyond was a brand-new lap pool for a spot of gentle exercise. We took a more relaxed approach to our holiday, but the well-run and imaginative all-ages kids clubs allows parents to enjoy sessions in the gym and excellent spa, book the tennis court, or try various watersports in the bay. My two had an afternoon session in the Voyagers Club and had fun playing games and creating Tate-worthy artwork. We stayed at Almyra over half-term so there were plenty of potential playmates for our two children. Consequently, it was hard tearing them away from the hotel, but we did manage a morning walk along the seafront to Paphos Fort, passing all manner of seafaring craft from fishing boats to yachts, and glass-bottomed boats to pirate ships.[supsystic-gallery id='104']Photos via i-escape Kids CollectionMosaics restaurant is the most family-friendly eatery at the hotel, and both buffet displays at breakfast and dinner were a sensational feast for all appetites and tastes, thankfully, as one of my children is extremely picky, while the other had decided to become a vegetarian the day before we arrived at Almyra. During the day you can lunch at Asian-Med fusion Notios between the main pools, or enjoy Cypriot fare at Ouzeri taverna on the promenade, or order poolside snacks (which we preferred). One night after supper, they enjoyed movie night, while I took time for myself to chill. Heaven!Little Voyageurs loves:❤ The fabulous friendly staff.❤ The great swimming pools.❤ The excellent provision for kids both in terms of childcare and activities.❤ The delicious food, with plenty of choice.❤ The sleek yet accessible contemporary design.❤ The seafront location.
